Dr Paul-Enguerrand Fady Biosecurity Policy Manager Centre for Long-Term Resilience
I am a life sciences expert whose experience combines over a decade of research across disciplines with several years of policy work, including in Parliament. In my role at the Centre for Long-Term Resilience as Biosecurity Policy Manager, I oversee projects on gene synthesis screening, mirror biology, and supply chain resilience for medical countermeasures.
My recent work has been covered in mainstream news outlets, with interviews on supply chain resilience by LBC News and BBC Radio Scotland, and a write-up of my work on the Consumer Products (Control of Biocides) Bill in the Daily Mirror.
I worked in the House of Lords for several years on a broad policy portfolio spanning science, health, agriculture, environment, and innovation. My Parliamentary work focused on advising senior policymakers on One Health, infectious disease, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and the microbiome. I was previously Policy Research Lead for the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, where I led global projects on antibiotic supply chains and antimicrobial stewardship.
I undertook my doctoral research in Pharmaceutical Science as part of the London Interdisciplinary Doctoral Programme, supervised by Prof. James Mason at King’s College London as well as Prof. Mark Sutton and Dr Lucy Bock at the United Kingdom Health Security Agency. My thesis focused on AMR.
Prior to my PhD, I obtained a B.Sc. in Microbiology and Immunology (with a minor in Linguistics) from McGill University.
